Installing Office Upgrades

H

Harry

I'm trying to install Office XP upgrade version on a new
computer. I own a registered upgrade version of Office
97, which qualifies me for the upgrade version of Office
XP. The problem I'm having is that I can't upgrade to
Office XP on my new computer because there are no
(upgrade)qualifying products actually installed on the
machine. I can't install Office 97 on the new machine to
upgrade to XP, for the same reason - no qualifying
programs installed on the machine. I had upgraded Office
97 on my old computer, on which I had qualifying software
installed. How do I install Office XP on my new machine?

Just insert the Office 97 disk when it asks for a previous qualifying
product - point the installation to it and once verified, put back in the
Office XP disk and continue your installation.

Please note: When you purchase an upgrade version of Office, the previous
qualifying product becomes a part of the license you use for the upgrade.
Therefore, you should have kept the product that qualified you for the
Office 97 upgrade with the 97 upgrade CD. Likewise, you will need to keep
Office 97 with your Office XP upgrade as it is now a part of the license.
