installing Outlook without email feature

Can I install Outlook 2007 without "upgrading" email feature from Windows
Mail, and do so after I use Outlook 2007 for a while?

Absolutely. About the only thing you might notice is that Outlook wants to
set itself as the default mail client, but you should be able to go into
IE's internet options and set Windows Mail to be the default mail client.
