installing sp3 w/o source disk

I chose this file for SP3 update because I can't find my original disk (it's
been 3-4 years since I bought. OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-fullfile-enu.exe 57.5
MB. The update site says that if you don't have the original install source
to use that file above, but when I followed instructions and ran from hard
drive it still asked for source disk and I'm having a huge problem w/ my
office programs and Outlook...ideas?

See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=828451 "Service packs,
updates, and security patches may require the Office XP CD-ROM".

Using the full-file version of a service pack for Office XP
reduces the likelihood, but does not eliminate the possibility,
that you will need to insert your Office XP CD at some point
during the update. If you cannot provide the CD when prompted,
then the service pack installation will fail, and some of your
Office applications may be left in a non-functional condition.

You should keep your Office CD in a safe place. You will need it
to install updates, or to add or remove features, or to repair or
uninstall or reinstall Office.
