Installing upgrade to Office 2007 Pro when trial version OEM on ma

I have bought a new sony laptop and it has a trial version of Office 2007 on
it. I purchased an upgrade of Office Professional 2007 as I want to install
Office 2007 as an upgrade from Office 2003 Professional which I already own.

However my 2003 version is also an upgrade from previous versions going back
a loooong way.How do I upgrade without a previous version on the drive? The
trial version OEM will not recognise the license key of the 2007 upgrade, nor
does it recognise the 2003 license key (thought it was worth a try). Can

you advise the best way to do this?

You will need to have a full version copy of a qualified office product to
upgrade, not an upgrade version.

All you need is the CD from a qualified version. When you are installing
Office 2007 you will be asked to insert the CD of Office 2003.

Absolutely uninstall the trial version from the computer as well as any
activation assistant and reboot the computer. Insert the 2007 disk and
start the installation. When it asks for a qualifying product, remove the
2007 disk and insert the 2003 disk. Once it has accepted the 2003 disk as a
qualifier, remove it and reinsert the 2007 disk. The only issue you should
have is if when inserting the '03 disk it attempts to install that version.
If so cancel out of the '03 installation and then the '07 installation
should work OK.

You do not need to install the '03 version first.
