Installing Word Feature.

G

Glenallan

Almost every time I use OFFICE XP WORD,
I am prompted that a 'Word Feature is about to be installed'
from a disc which is not available.

I stick the disc in and it apparently installs, though what is being
installed I don't know as I will not have started to do anything
at this stage.

Sometimes a message appears top say that "MS Word has not
been installed for this user"

How can I stop this. It really is a nuisance.!

Any thoughts please.

TIA
Robert

Thank you for your.response. Unsure what you mean though.
All I have done in this situation is open up a new Word doc.
The request to add features comes upo before I have actually
done anything. 99 times out of 100, all I want to do is type
a simple text letter. Nothing remotely fancy.
Just like I've typed above.

Cheers
Robert.

I suspect this is being caused by a rogue Add-In. I suspect the simple
solution is to get out your installation disks and do a full install of Word
so that the entire program is available from your hard disk. Ig you don't
have room for it, you can check out Add-Ins.
If you start Word using
Start => Run: Winword.exe /a
you'll end up with Word out of the box loading without your saved normal.dot
file, with no macros and no Add-Ins. You may notice that it loads much more
quickly than you are used to seing. Does it prompt for you to insert the
installation disk? If not, chances are your problem is an Add-In.

See <URL:
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/CheckIfAddinsInstalled.htm> for
instructions on seeing what Add-Ins you have. (Having Add-Ins is not a bad
thing. I run Word with 15 Add-Ins, most of which I wrote myself.) Uninstall
..COM Add-Ins one at a time checking to see which one is causing the problem.
For .dot Add-Ins, move them, one at a time, to a different folder.

If your problem is an Add-In, write to the company that put out the Add-In
with a complaint, and possibly a bill for your time.

Hope this helps,
