Installing Word XP

I have recently reinstalled Windows XP on my home system, and I can't figure out how to install Microsoft Word. When I attempt to open it up, the window says I have to run Setup to continue.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Did you simply install the Word CD and run it's setup program first?
Did the setup program report that installation was successful?

Curious: why did you have to reinstall Windows XP? That is a very very
drastic step. What problem were you trying to fix? Is the root cause
of this problem still there? Why didn't you do a repair install?
