Antonio M.

Hi Experts,

I would like to know if it's possible to integrate MS Groove Server with
Sharepoint Server?

Lets say I have a Team site in Sharepoint, can I replicate this team site
documents with a users Groove (user belonging to that team site) ?

Thnx

Hello Antonio,
The Groove client product, Groove 2007, will integrate with
Sharepoint file libraries. It works well, but has some limitations.
All changes to the Sharepoint data need to be accomplished by the
person that set up the Groove tool that is synchronized to the
Sharepoint site. As such, all deltas, regardless of which Groove user
made the change, will appear on the Sharepoint site as having been
made by the same person every time.

As for a Groove server, such as the Groove Data Bridge, it will not
provide this functionality. The GDB server is a Groove "super client"
that runs as a server and supports thousands of spaces. It does have
a programmable WebServices interface (http://www.microsoft.com/
downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=BAA487E9-E1B9-4A10-
BEEA-1FD906B77F92&displaylang=en) that does support much of Groove
functionality.

The Groove v3.1 client had the 'Groove Mobile Workspace which was a more
integrated with a SharePoint site. (Un)fortunately, the Groove 2007 client is
relatively limited - sharing files (library) with the SP site.

There's more documentation on Groove+SP integration here -

sorry.. I misread your statement: you mean a Groove Server (presumably Groove
DataBridge server) and not a Groove client (which is what my above response
is based on) ?
Groove DB server can be integrated to SP but would need GWS (web services)
integration (development). Ping me below with more of your requirements.

beyond the out-of-box functionality provided by the SharePoint Files Tool, it
is possible to write custom integration points between Groove and InfoPath
Forms tools and MOSS/WSS. This would entail writing a custom application
against Groove Web Services, running on the client, against a Groove Data
Bridge, or from within SharePoint (EventReceivers and Web Parts, mostly).
More info on the GWS SDK here:
