How do I go about integrating all the elements of office in a single web-like
interface. I would like to have on a single page, simple views of my
calendar, mail, most used applications, favourite sites, access to content
providers, music, photos, etc.

Program it? It is not a native function of any version of Office, which you
conveniently failed to state.

Hi Milly. Thanks for your response. Please can you elaborate a bit more on
your reply as I'm not sure how this relates to my question. Unfortunately
I'm not an expert in Microsoft applications but realise this may be a
limitation of Office but I was hoping that other applications or products may
exist that would allow me to achieve a single web like interface. When you
mention 'program it' what specifically did you have in mind? For instance can
you suggest a programming tool or application that can achieve this?
Thank-you for your help.

Also, for those reading this thread, does anyone know if microsoft have any
plans to introduce a product that will enable this?

Use programming to build the interface you are looking for. As for
Microsoft's plans, we are not privy to their intentions. Longhorn will have
additional desktop functionality over today's Windows XP as fas as
displaying your most recently or most often used applications.

For now, you can try desktop sidebar to see if this is more along the lines
of what you are asking for.

That "interface" you envision, is referred to as a "desktop".

Hi Bob,

I've done a bit more research and found two other names for what I would
like to achieve - a "Portal" or "Homepage" as used by BTyahoo.

For "Portals", I found specific software products - Peoplesoft ERP & HR
suites and Oracle HR suites to name but two - which have self service
elements that pull together specific application features, as well as
external content, into a single web-like interface. The down side is that
these products are all within the corporate user space and are usually an
integral part of a larger product. Consequently, the cost to a single user
are . . . high.

For "Homepage" BTyahoo offer a single customisable web-based interface to
all their customers which does a lot of what I envision. However, it makes
use of their own mail facility (where I would like to use outlook) . . . and
the list goes on.

From the limited response so far, Milly's response seems to be the only way
forward. Unless you can suggest another appraoch
