Integration of Project and SPS

Does anybody know, how Project Server 2003 integrates with SPS for sharing documents. Does SPS expose services, for adding and retrieving documents, that Project uses
Which of the following features are part of Project, and which are part of SPS
- check in / check ou
- version contro
- document attributes, e.g. the project and task; are they stored in Sharepoint

Any links to this kind of technical documentation would also be helpful. Haven't come across any
