Integration with MapPoint

I am evaluating the usefulness of MapPoint for my
division, and I have a basic question: If a developer with
MapPoint installed on his PC creates an Excel document and
places it on an intranet, will a client without MapPoint
be able to access the MapPoint tool? I appreciate any
help. Thanks!
