interactive buttons causing slow pages report

I am using interactive buttons on all of my pages created with Frontpage
2003, and they work fine when I preview them in my browser...I haven't
published the site yet. When I check the reports for my site, it shows all
of my pages are slow. I removed all the buttons from one of the pages and it
shows one less slow page. Therefore, the interactive buttons are slowing my
pages....why? How do I use these IB's so they don't slow the pages?
