Internal Error 2203-- What does this mean?

I purchased my laptop from Staples/Business Depot last
year and my Microsoft Word and Excel have trouble
starting up, and I can't get my Acrobat to work anymore.
Nor can I install Acrobat anymore.

The following error keeps coming up:

"Error 2203. An Internal Error Occurred.
C:\Windows\Installer\25026c4.ipi-- 2147287035"
