Internal "hyperlink"

I have recently upgraded from windows 98 to windows XP. I
have a document with TOC and with windows 98 the document
featured what I refer to as an "internal hyperlink" so
that when you point to a page no. in the TOC the "finger"
appears so that you can click and go directly to that
page in the document. There must be some feature that
you can "turn on" in Word that activates this feature,
but I cannot find it in any of the menus or in help. Can
you help me?
Thanks,
Cedac

These are 'internal hyperlinks', but you must click Ctrl to activate the
'finger'.

You don't say what version of Word you have (the version of Windows is
irrelevant in this instance). By default, Word 2000 and above hyperlink the
entire TOC entry (not just the page number). In Word 2002 and above,
however, you must Ctrl+click to follow any hyperlink, including those in
TOCs. You can change this behavior by clearing the appropriate check box on
the Edit tab of Tools | Options.
