I have a large spreadsheet that has multiple vlookups, both internal &
external ones.

All of the internal lookups ( to other sheets within the workbook) have
disappered - just like breaking the links to external SS.

Is there anyway of monitoring internal lookups?

Try Tools > Formula Auditing > Evaluate Formula

The only way they would have broken through is if someone deleted the
sheet and/or any defined names that are used, and baring that the
values your searching for is no longer in the workbook on that
worksheet

Are the formulas still there?

Post an example of the formula.

Also try the auditing tool and trace precendents.
