intersection of a row with a column

Hi i wonder if you can help,

if i have a column starting with say A5, and have a row, could say
starting with B6.... how do i get excel to find the intersection of the
row and the column?... ie to find the cell A6?

Your help would be much much much appreciated,

I don't understand, James - a column will start with the first cell in it,
i.e. A1 for column A, and a row will start with the first cell in that, i.e.
A6 for row 6.

Are the cell references you quote contained in some other cells as text
values somewhere?

Please explain your requirement more clearly.
