Invalid Argument while importing

Have been importing huge .txt files (fixed width) to
access 97. Now that we have upgraded to 2000 we are having
a hard time to import the huge billing files.

After a few tries, the file gets imported. But it has
become a problem.No one has the time to keep importing
several times till it works.. any solution?

What are the 3rd party utilites that are available to
import the data?
