Invalid installation error message

My laptop has Windows XP Professional and Office 2002. After sitting idle
for about 10 minutes the following error message is displayed "Invalid
installation please reinstall". There are no problems other than this
message appearing, it disappears with a key stroke or movement ot the mouse.
Any suggestions on how to stop this message appearing?
