Hi, I have searched high and low for an explanation of this PROBLEM! There is a thread here, but incomplete. Will there be an answer forthcoming or is this a typical Microsoft/Apple "oh well" situation?

Could you please quote the contents of the thread or provide a url to it?

Otherwise it's not at all obvious what problem you're talking about.

When I try to go into presentation mode in Mac PPT 2008, I get a little window popping up that says "Invalid Pixel Format".

Does this happen consistently or just with one specific file? If a specific
file, did it originate on a PC? Is it an old file that's been around for a
while? What other details can you supply about the file & its content -
especially with regard to graphics?

I thought it might have something to do with the legacy origination of the file (yes, one was recently created on a PC), so I started from scratch on the Mac and got the same results.

To test, I created a simple project with some text over a white bkg - same result. Also, sometimes when I get the error and hit "ok" on the window, the application quits, and sometime it doesn't - no consistency to the crashing.

Would you like to see the crash dump?

Hi.

I used to have the same problem in my MacOS-X running Office 2008 for Mac.

It only happened in a certain resolution of my external display. When I
switched to the Laptop display, everything went OK. To solve this problem, I
detected displays again and then set a different resolution on the external
display. Opened the file, saved it and quit Powerpoint. Then I switched
external display resolution back to 1440x900 and voilà - it just worked.

Maybe MacOS has changed info on the pixel format somewhere where MS-Office
read it. I'm not sure on how graphic environment on MacOS is set, but old
Unix graphic envs used to have this info on a config file. I think rebuilding
this info (or file) was helpful somehow.

Thanks,

Andre Penha - Campinas, Brazil
