Hi,

I purchased a new computer with Works 2003.

When I launch Word, Excel etc..I am prompted to enter the
Product Key. This code is on a sticker attached to my
computer. When the code is entered (case matching) it is
not recognized by the system. Has anyone else had this
problem? I've tried the "repair" function on add/remove
programs - but no luck...If I need to contact microsoft
can can someone provide specific instructions about who to
contact? Thanks for the help.

The sticker attached to your computer is almost certainly for Windows. The
CD key for Works, Works Suite, or Office will be found on a Certificate of
Authenticity that you will find somewhere with the media for those programs.
Note that no Office product (Word, Excel, etc.) comes with Works. Word 2002
does come with Works Suite 2003, but if you have Excel, then you should be
looking for your Office media.

Suzanne,

Thanks for the help - It is not "Works" it is Microsoft
Office. According to the Microsoft Windows Home Edition
booklet, the PC manufacturuer was required to attach The
Certificate of Authenticity label to the computer. This is
the only label I can find on the PC with a 25 character
Product Key. The pc, a laptop, did not have any software
CD's with the package except some trial stuff. Does this
help?

The "Microsoft Windows Home Edition booklet" refers to Windows, and that is
the COA that's affixed to the CPU. Did Office come with your computer? If
so, the OEM is required to provide media and a COA that includes the CD key.
If Office was a retail version, then you need to find the original media,
and the key will be on the CD jewel case.
