Inverted commas

I am half-way through a book, and suddenly Word (in Office 2000) has changed
the shape of my single and double inverted commas from the original "curled"
style to straight lines. I have set up macros via "insert - symbol" so that I
can still access the original style, but it's a it of a bore, and I'd like
the curled commas back on my keyboard. Advice would be gratefully received.
