invisible dialogue boxes - spelling and help

Hi,
when I try to check a spelling or use a help file the
dialogue boxes open but are invisible. they respond to
hitting the return key as if they are there and the main
window loses its focus but I cannot see the box to use it.

Any ideas anyone?

Does your monitor have dual monitor support? If so then you may be
encountering the same problem described in this thread:
