Invisible spreadsheet

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I have a spreadsheet which I have been updating for years on Windows and I am now on a mac. It has been opening fine but recently I made some changes. The next time Iopened it (which still shows in finder as the right size - 416kb) it doesn't open (at least that I can see).

Here are the steps...

- I open excel
- I choose 'file>open recent' and select the spreadsheet.
- It asks two questions
1) Asking me whether I want to remove Excel v4 macros - which I just click 'open'
2) Asking me whether it should ignore or edit links with another spreadsheet (I have this spreadsheet linking with another one) - I click on 'ignore links'
- It then just returns me to the blank spreadsheet - no error message.
- I have looked in 'window' and it doesn't show the spreadsheet name.

I cannot understand how to see the contents of the spreadsheet (which are important to me).

Any ideas?

XL4 macros do indeed work in Office 2008. Is it possible, that a macro is
hiding or closing the sheet? Try opening it with the shift key held down.
Are you using the latest version of Excel? If not, try updating and then
trying to open the file.
