Invitations locks up computer

When I receive invitations to be accepted from two particular members of the
organization, it will lock up my computer for 10 minutes while it "searches
for the event on my calendar". This causes particular problems when my CEO
is working via our terminal server. Any suggestions what setting could be
changed to make this stop?
