After many years of using commercially printed invoices,
I am thinking of creating my own. Am I correct in
understanding Excel can help me create them? Someone
please point me in the right direction! Any help will be
much appreciated!

With Excel 97, you can use
File >> New >> Spreadsheet solutions
and choose "Invoice." This is a Microsoft-provided template you can
customize, or just borrow the ideas.

Details might be different for different versions of Excel.
