Invoking the edit mode for a rectangle can be tricky for V. 2003!!

(1) I clicked on the rectangle (drawing toolbar) and placed it on a blank
layout. Then I clicked outside the rectangle. Later, I clicked in the
middle of the rectangle and I had no problem keying in text.

(2) I clicked on the rectangle and placed it on the above slide. This
time, I changed the fill color to NO FILL before I clicked outside the
rectangle. Then, I clicked in the middle of the rectangle, I could not get
the edit mode and I couldn't key in text. The only way I could invoke the
edit mode was by placing my cursor on one of the borders.

What I learned from this experiment is:-

It is better to place the cursor on the borders of any autoshapes,
rectangles, ovals, textboxes, objects ...... before I click. Try to make the
four-arrow cross alive first!

Any comments or advice?

Instead of setting to No Fill, change the fill transparency to 99%. This will
allow you to click on the autoshape easily.

Shawn,

Brilliant! I can understand why. Thanks!

I don't know if I have found a "bug" with slide layout. Will post separately.

Will rate reply later.
