Is existing Office CD required to Upgrade to 2007?

Hi,
I just purchased a Retail SB 2007 Office Upgrade and want to install on my
laptop which has a manually installed Office XP. The Office XP version has
been activated. However, the CD and key are at another location (work). Will
the 2007 upgrade install be happy to inspect my current, activated, Office XP
installation, or will it want me to insert the Office XP CD?

Also, Is it correct that these non-OEM Office licenses allow me to install
Office on my Desktop and my laptop as long as I am the only user of those
machines?

thanks,

You can use the currently installed Office XP as the upgrade qualifier (as
long as it is not Student and Teacher XP) without having the disk present.
If you ever have to reformat the hard drive and install fresh you would then
need the disk. I would recommend obtaining the disk and keep it with the
'07 disk in case this ever happens.

You can install SBE Retail on one device and a portable device for the
exclusive use of the primary user of the first device so yes you are
correct. You will, of course, need a qualifying product for the laptop
also. This can be the Office XP disk, or any of the other program or suites
listed here:

column.

I would say yes. I had Office 2000 Pro on my #2 system and the Office XP Pro
upgrade installed just fine. Only thing it asked for was the XP Pro license
key.
