Is insertion of page# non-standard for Home&Student Edition?

I am currently, on 20 June 2007 Wed, using a trial version of Home&Student
Edition of Office 2007. I just came to know that I cannot insert page
numbers onto the documents I have created. At the same time, I am thinking
to buy a copy of this software until I found this defect of the trial
version. I plan to find out more defects before I buy it. I wonder if the
actual H&S edition also exclude the feature of insertion of page numbers and
other important features available to normal Office 2007 version. Glad to
read for your opinions and comments on this matter. Thanks.

I'm afraid you're a bit misinformed

The difference between the various packages is a matter of what programs are
included & the EULA, but the programs are the same from one package to the
next - IOW, MS Office Word 2007 in the Home & Student Suite is not a watered
down or crippled version of the MS Office Word 2007 included in the
Professional, Small Business, Standard, or any of the other suites.

If you're having a problem inserting page numbers there must be some other
reason. How are you attempting to add them to your document & what does/does
not happen when you try?

Maybe you could try to download a copy of H&S or Prof Plus edition from the
MS download site, install it properly and determine from there. The answers
will appear right in your own eyes. Experiencing is always believing. You
won't know Great Wall of China until you are stepping on it or that you won't
know chilli is spicy hot until you taste it for the first time.

You are to expect to be taken out of the Word 2007 window and into another
open window if opened for another application like IE 7 or if not, no further
action when you point the mouse to Page Number of Headers and Footers group
of Insert Tab, Bottom of Page-> you see the faint window message that tells
you " save selection as Page Number (Bottom)". That said, I am reverting to
my tried and tested MS Office 2000 for the the intervening time till the
problem is effectively resolved without me paying a cent to anyone at the
other end (operator assistance) where I am only using the trial software.
Basically, all office versions have core features that are standard and so
still usable.

As the Office 2007 can only be retrieved from MS website and no DVD
included, I have my worry that after buying the office 2007 product, I have
no recourse or anyone to refer to without having to pay US$40 per call to get
a human being to tell if a failed software run from MS website. Well, I do
not have a bed of 10 square metres, 43 storeys high of US$50 notes. I am a
prudent man earning an honest living.
