is it easy to install office 2003

I've a tiny laptop and it came with trial version of Office 2003. It's now
expired (I think) but I wasn't informed. Anyway, I believe that this is the
cause of it locking all my documents. When I come to install a new Office
2003 disc, do I just put in the disc and it starts installing? Or, do I have
to unistall the trial version first?

If you are not converting your trial version to a retail version as described
in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=831023 "How to convert a Office 2003
Trial Edition to a Full Retail Edition", but instead plan to install Office
2003 from CD, then yes, you need to uninstall the trial version before you
install from your CD. If you don't, then when you enter the product key from
your CD, you will most likely get an "invalid product key" error message
because having two copies of Office 2003 on the same computer will confuse
the installer program.

Massive thanks. Just one more question, if that's ok.. When I
unistall the trial version, will it delete any of the
documents/folders I've already done/saved on word?
I will be planning to install an Office CD that my friend has (brand
new!)

Define "brand new". If your friend has installed it on their system, then
you may *NOT* install it on yours as it is a violation of the End User
Licence Agreement. If this is the case, you will need to either convert the
trial, or purchase a retail licence. You cannot 'share' a licence.

Ok, the Office2003 disc is brand new and not been used before. So I take it,
that'll be fine then! Bloomin' good job as I can't believe how much they
cost. I went into a computer shop and they said around £100 and that dosen't
even include everything.
So I suppose the only way to prevent everything being wiped (as I saved
everything in Office Word documents) is to save it onto CD then?
I have to say, this 'chat-room' is excellent, don't you think?
