I have a database of parents and children. I need to set up labels with the
name of the parent, and the age and gender of the children. I have a report
that does this with a subform that repeats for the number of children. Is it
possible to do this with a 1"x4" mailing label?

Sure. A label type report can contain a subreport. You might also want to
check out code that would concatenate all the children info into a single
expression
