Is Office 97 compatible with Windows XP?

I just purchased a new laptop with Windows XP and have
heard rumors that Office 97 does not work well with this.
Is this true, and if so, is there any way around it?

Office 97 will run just fine on Windows XP.

Occasionally, after installing Office 97 on Windows XP or Windows 2000, you
will receive the following message: "Microsoft Access can't start because
there is no license for it on this machine." This problem is due, of all
things, to a font. The fix for that problem, should it occur, is found at:

It works fine with Office XP as long as it is a retail version, and, if an
upgrade, you have access to the qualifying media.

I have intermittant problems with office 97 on windows
2000 workstations.
The applications start to load and then go to "not
responding"
I've loaded every office 97 patch with no success.
I've looked everywhere for an answer and have had no luck.
If anyone else has this problem, please let me know so I
don't loose my mind.
