Is Office going to burn down

When I attempt to open some email links outlook starts to open and am asked
for a product key for Office 2007 - my vendor says this isnt necessary as he
has already installed it. He did however give me the key which returns an
invalid message. I'm now down to 12 goes of office. Is Office really going
to get trashed after this time?

If you don't have a valid product key, it will not operate after the trial
period. Your vendor either gave you an invalid key, or you input it
incorrectly.

Who is this vendor exactly? It sounds as if he installed a trial version or
"Office Ready PC" software, for which you will have to purchase a real
license from Microsoft. If he charged you for Office chances are good that
you have been had.

Also at some future time you will almost certainly have to reinstall all
your software, after a hard disk failure or some other screw up. At that
time what will you use for an installation DVD?

I bought the laptop on eBay - the vendor is in US and now have no contact
details (something like intertronica somewhere in Ill. I think). There is
the usual trial version on the desktop but he actually installed the student
version - I only get this message when I go for some email links, it does not
appear when I use Office itself.
