I'd suspect it's a Vista issue in this case, but you may want to check in one of the Vista newsgroups. You might also want to, in
Internet Explorer, delete the control, restart the PC then attempt to install it again (also check on Microsoft Update - different
control) to see how that works).
At present there aren't any 2007 updates to Beta 2 posted.

I tried to search for udates on Office Update while running the publc preview
of Office under Vista Beta 2. It installed the ActiveX cntrol, then failed
because of a bad signature in ident.cab >>
