is office xp older than office 2003?

first, office XP is the older version, office 2003 is the newer version, right?

i have office XP in my computer and most of the time I use office Access,
and i like to upgrade to office Access 2003 only, not office 2003 full
version, what should I do? should I just put in the Access 2003 CD, and
goahead install or what should I remove the office XP first (this sounds
stupid, but I like to make sure)? if I goahead put in CD ignore other things,
after I install Access 2003, how should I know it's the newer version, is
there any different icon tell me or icon stay the same? I guess my file in
Access will stay the same, won't they?

Hi Carol,

version, what should I do?
If you insert the Office 2003 setup CD into your CD-ROM drive, the setup program should start
automatically. You should see a screen that allows you to pick which components to install. Pick
only Access 2003. If you wish to retain your current installation of Access 2002, then make sure
to pick a new installation directory for Access 2003.
how should I know it's the newer version
In Access, click on Help > About Microsoft Access.
