Is Office2000 Compatible with XP?

I am about to replace my Win2K laptop with a new one, which will come with
either XPhome or XPpro. Can I install my existing (licenced) version of
Office2000Pro under XP, or will I have to purchase Office 2003 (or later)
Office software?

All versions of Office (97, 2000, XP, 2003 and 2007) will work in Windows XP.
If you choose to try 2007, make sure the computer is powerful enough.

Office 2000 will work on XP as will all previous and later versions (Office
4.3, 95, 97, 2002 (XP), 2003 and possibly 2007.) The only problem you may
have is if the Office 2000 Pro version you have is an OEM version (says for
distribution with an new PC on the CD label.) If so it is tied to the
original computer it was installed on according to the EULA. If this is a
retail full version you will have no problem installing it on the new
computer. If this was an upgrade, you will also need a qualifying product
CD or Floppy to allow the installation to proceed past the authentication of
previous product portion of the install. Once installed, download service
packs 1a and 3 and install them in order. The SP1a is not included with the
SP 3 update.

Many thanks. My version of Office2000pro is a retail version, so I should
have no trouble. I'll archive the two SPs you mentioned.
