Is Project the App for my needs / template for my need

I have a small business and I am considering to use MS Project to schedule my
resources.
I have 20 people working for me, 12 is working steady and approx. 8 temps.
We work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

I have 2 types of employees: type A and B.
An employee can be both A and B. Both steady and temps can be A or B or both.
There have to be (must) always be 1 type A at work and only one. When
shifting there have to (must) be an overlap of 1 hour.
There have to be (must) always be 2 type B at work. 1 24 hours a day and 1
from 8 morning to 10 evening. When shifting no overlap is needed.
Sometimes I need a third type B for a specific period of time (eg. 12.00 to
20.00).

Every employee have their own calendar, some don’t work week-ends some don’t
work Monday and Friday, some can only work weekdays to 4 in the afternoon,
some don’t work nights and so on and so on...

I don’t need to specify the tasks in the project, my only problem is
scheduling.

It would be nice if my employees could see their work schedule via web.

Q1: Is MS Project the right choice for me ?
- If not do you know of a program that satisfies my needs?
Q2: If MS Project is the right choice for me, does anybody have a template
for making this type of schedules ?

Sounds like you don't have a project, which is what MS Project is used for:
scheduling tasks and resources in projects. I would start off with a
spreadsheet. If you want a web based solution you probably need to pay a
fair bit of money.

If you don't have tasks, Project can't help you at all.

Hi Lars,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

I don't think Project is for you. It is a project management scheduling
package. By definition, a project has a clearly defined start and finish,
and you have to enter tasks and assign resources before yu can see a resouce
schedule. I don't know of any other project management packa ge that will
do what you're afer. Maybe someone else knows.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
