Is SharePoint Portal Server needed?

T

I have Office 2007 for home use only with XP SP3. I have Access, Excel,
Outlook, Power Point, Publisher and Word installed. Do I need Microsoft
SharePoint Portal Server installed for these programs to work?

Thank you,
David

NO. You can use all your products without Sharepoint Server.

Sharepoint Server is yet another product from Microsoft which it can
sell to enterprises even if they know nothing about the product.

Go ahead and enjoy your Office 2007 for home use only.

Hope this helps.

Sigh, apparently you know nothing of enterprises and what they find useful.
To the contrary, enterprises know a great deal about SharePoint and have
successfully leveraged its use to their benefit. By the way, SharePoint is
one of Microsoft's most successful server products in recent years.

Honestly, your tendency to denigrate Microsoft at the least provocation is
getting old.
