is there a way to automatically delete spam emails in the bulk email folder of my yahoo account?

Dear all,

This question is about the interface of outlook 2000 and yahoo account.

Last time, I post a question to ask if there is any way to avoid downloading
my 300+ daily trash emails into outlook 2000 from yahoo account... The
answer was that the yahoo account can be set to "not to forward bulk emails
to my outlook 2000"...

I did that, it was great and I also use "mailwasher", now I basically block
spam emails out of my mail client! That was great!

But another problem comes out. Originally the outlook 2000 downloads bulk
emails from yahoo, it's bad, but it can automatically delete those emails on
the server... now it doesnot download the bulk emails, hence it does not
delete them. The yahoo accout does delete the bulk emails automatically, at
a periodical basis, but its period is too long, one week? I guess...

Now every half day, if I don't log onto my yahoo account and delete the bulk
emails manually, the yahoo account will be full and block any email
incoming, even useful ones... many friends of mine complained about
returning emails, undeliverable emails, etc. Sometimes even after 8-hour
sleep/one night, the account becomes full.

Is there a way to avoid this? I figure out the following possibilities:

a. Is there a hidden setting in yahoo that it can let me set how long the
bulk emails are going to be deleted?
b. Is that possible that mailwasher will automatically delete bulk emails
for me? maybe I should allow pop3 forwarding of the bulk emails and let
mailwasher to delete them?
c. Maybe I should allow pop3 forwarding of the bulk emails and is there a
way to let outlook fetches those emails directly to a separate mail folder
than I can always delete them without even looking at them?

Can anybody give me any help on this?

Get a program called Mailwasher. This great lil app acts a a proxy server
for your email and filters out any SPAM or unwanted email directly from your
ISP, before your email client downloads it. There is a free version, but
the paid ver. is well worth the money.

Alternatively, you can try Spamnet, its totally free and is an add-in for
Outlook that will filter out SPAM once its received.

I don't pay Yahoo for access to their POP3 server so I cannot answer
questions about additional options for their paid-for account versus
their freebie account. I only use their freebie account. But I hate
having to use a browser to retrieve my Yahoo e-mails so I use an
HTTP-to-POP3 protocol converter proxy called YahooPOPs. This lets me
yank e-mails from Yahoo into my POP3 e-mail client (Outlook 2002). I
could send outbound e-mails through YahooPOPs and through my Yahoo
account but I also hate that they slap their spam promotional signature
onto the end of my e-mails, so I leave the Yahoo POP3 accounts in
Outlook configured to use my ISP's SMTP server for outbound e-mails.

YahooPOPs has the following options:

(enabled) Download emails from the Inbox folder
(disabled) Download emails from the Bulk folder
(enabled) Empty Trash folder on exit
(disabled) Empty Bulk folder on exit

"on exit" means just before YahooPOPs disconnects from Yahoo. If I also
were getting so much crap per day that it was using up my disk quota in
my Yahoo accounts, I would change the last option to enable emptying the
Bulk folder on exit to get rid of all that junk. Fortunately I do not
so I can leave the junk in the Bulk folder to let it automatically
expire.

Junk e-mails moved to the Bulk folder do not expire until after 30 days.
It's not a week like Hotmail but instead a full 30 days. This is far
too long. You cannot change this expiration period. According to their
help, "Please be aware that after 30 days, messages in your Bulk Mail
folder are subject to automatic deletion." Notice they state that they
are *subject* to automatic deletion. They may remain in your Bulk
folder for longer than that.
