Is there a way to empty the Inbox in outlook

I'm not very good about deleting Email from the inbox. There are over 3,000
of them in there now. Is there a way to delet a large block of them at one
time, or do I have to do it one at a time? I'm using Office Outlook 2003

Did you try a Ctrl + A that is Select them all and then Shift + Delete.
Sometimes, it may take a long time because of the number of mails, but
eventually, it may work.

Dave,

Sort the inbox by date. Select the first email you want to delete (say over
a couple months old) then scroll down to the last email to want to delete
then hold down shift and click on the last one you want. This will select
all the emails in that range, then hit the delete button.

Don't forget to empty your deleted items folder or before you hit delete
hold down the shift key then delete. But be careful because this will
permanetly delete those items without going to the deleted items folder
first.

Good luck,
Christa

If you don't want to delete them all, you can select a range of them by
clicking on the first one, scrolling to the end of the range you wish to
delete and, while holding Shift, click on the last one to select everything
between the first and last. Then press Delete. You can also select
multiple entries that are not adjacent by click one on the first one and
holding CTRL while clicking on the subsequent ones.
