Is there a way to Reinstalling Windows Standard 2000 without cd

L

Linda

I had an error 1706 and found online to use the Windows Installer Cleanup to
remove the Windows 2000 Standard SR-1. I do not have the original windows
office cd and was hoping I could download the Windows 2000 from the microsoft
website. Do I have a chance in Hell or did I just cause myself to purchase a
new computer.

Any advice.....is appreciated.

Thanks!

Yes you are correct; You don't have a chance in hell (or even in
heaven!). You do need to buy a new Office 2003 package (NOT the new
computer as it should still be working if it has got an operating
system!).

Amazon have good deals for Office 2003 and you should seriously consider
getting yourself a legitimate software you can be proud of.

No, you need the CDs. Without knowing what your hardware specs are, I can't
tell you whether you need a new computer or just a retail version of
Windows.

As for whether or not you have a chance in Hell, I guess that depends on how
you live for life. ;-)

Because the OP said "I do not have the original windows office cd" as
opposed to original Apple MAC CD. Also, I have experienced that you
cannot legitimately buy Office 2k (because the OP also says something
about "remove the Windows 2000 Standard SR-1" - this must be Office 2k
standard SR-1 unless you have come across Windows 2k Standard SR-1 -
there are only Windows 2k Professional with relevant SPks but not
standard).

Therefore, the best she could do is to buy Office 2003 (for here Office
2k) legitimately and be a proud owner of Microsoft Office Product. Some
people are really proud when they buy Microsoft Products - I am proud
that is for sure because I use them/it a lot!

Did I mislead you by any chance. I automatically assume that posters on
this NG have some common sense to know that we can't deal with Windows
problems here as there are more relvant NGs for them.

Hope this explanation helps.
