Is there any easy way of getting upgrades for dial up

I have a dial up connection for internet and due to home location, I will
never be able to get high speed. Is there a way of downloading onto disk and
then transferring the upgrades to my home computer? It takes hours to get
one upgrade and usually just about the time it is almost done.. the computer
looses its connection and it has to start all over again.

Any suggestions

One possible solution that works for me is the local library. All have
hi-speed Internet. Simply plug in a flash drive and download all your
update software, etc., to it. Then take it home and install. I've
downloaded a LOT of software this way, and it works so well.
