is there no help to be had?

Last week I posted an urgent request for info to resolve an issue that's
totally screwed up an important spreadsheet.

Office2007 is running the 2003 spreadsheet in compatibility mode and is
screwing up all the formats - color, font, size, borders, currency, etc. etc.

I save the file correctly but when it's opened again the formating is all
screwed up. It seems any cell I touch no longer remembers it's settings.
I've tried to "lock" the formats but that's not working either.

It does remember formatting when I take a piece of the older unaffected part
and copy it over the new material it saves and reopens correctly. So there
is something that is resetting the cells to their original default setting.

If this is not solveable than I'll spend the billion hours nec and rebuild
this from scratch. Just let me know.

thanks

It's very difficult to give a reason for this but, from your other post, it
might be due to having had 2010 installed. Normally it's fine to install
multiple versions providing they were installed in order oldest to newest.
However the 2010 beta was not designed for use in that way, typically in a
VM with no other versions.

Then again it might be for some other reason. If you can, try doing exactly
the same on a machine that's only ever had 2007.

Peter T - thanks for getting back to me - you're the only one who had a
thought on this.

I think you are correct that having 03-07-10 all installed on my machine
created some conflict - but how do I fix it?

Nowhere in any of the install info or install screens does it even suggest
that office 10 should be run on a "clean machine" - or offer to uninstall the
old software. So if what you say is true: MS screwed up by either issuing a
version that needs to be installed on a clean machine - and not telling the
user OR by issuing software with the expectation that it will run on a
machine with prior versions installed - but it doesn't.

And MS OFFICE10 Beta Bug Help has been quite buggy and has basically ignored
my issue. Thanks MS for another happy client.

But I digress.

Sorry K, I've only just seen your follow-up. If you see this post back to
say how you got on, or didn't !
