Is this a bug or not?

I replied to an email that was archived in Outlook 2007.

The 'sent' copy was placed in the archived sent folder instead of the
one in my personal folders. Is this normal or a bug?

Is there anyway that I configure responses to archived 'mails to be
put in the current sent folder?

TIA.

Cheers,

Guy

Not a bug. The sent copy gets saved in the same message store where
you originated your reply. It is a message store. It also happens to
be an archive but you can use separate message stores for other
reasons, like organization.

I do have 'save copies of messages in sent items folder' selected. I
assume that the one in the personal folders is 'the' one and not any
other.

Sorted. Deselected the (cryptic) 'In folders other than the inbox,
save replies with the original message'. Replies to achieved emails
now go to the current sent folder.

Not on mine it doesn't. I sent a reply to an archived message and the "Sent"
item appeared in the Sent Items of my IMAP account, where it should do.

I just tested on mine, too. Same as yours so either I was wrong or
the OP has some weird setup. However, when I composed a reply to a
message that was in my archival message store, it said it was going to
get send via account "." (i.e., no account was specified). So I
picked one so I knew it would send. I then retested without picking
the sending account and it still sent (using the default account) but
the sent copy got put into my current personal message store. So it
could be a bug ... however ...

Looks like the OP had the option "save sent copy in folder with
original message" and that's why the sent copy went wherever was the
original message to which he was replying. I forgot about that
option. I've never mixed my sent and received e-mails (although I
have a Received Items subfolder under the Sent Items folder where
e-mails that make it past my filters will save a copy so an advanced
find on the Sent Items folder will, by default, include the Received
Items folder to group them together).
