Is this a known BUG?

Outline view paragraph symbol function failure...

In outline view, every once in a while (as often as once
every few hours) the view gets all messed up.

Specifically, the expand/collapse plus symbol before
headings becomes a thin dash, and the symbol before end
headings (a minus symbol) disappears. If I have multiple
documents open, all of them fail at the same time.

I then need to close all my applications and restart.

Does anyone know if this is a known BUG?

Has it been fixed?

Thanks, Doug Mohr

Hi Doug,

Sounds like it might be a ressource problem. Which OS do you use?

I did run into such problems quite often in Win98 (with several docs open,
and other programs running, too).
Using the ressource monitor RSRCMTR.EXE, it turned out that the program I
used for internet access was to blame.

I had gotten into the habit to reboot Windows once or twice a day to start
with a clean slate.

With WinXP, these problems seem to have gone away...

Klaus

Hi Klaus,

Thank you very much for your response. I'm using Windows
2000. Hopefully the problem will go away when I upgrade to
XP. In the meantime I'll restart more frequently. I
typically have multiple Word documents open at the same
time, plus Explorer, Outlook and utilities for opening PDF
files, etc.

Yours truly,

Doug Mohr

Hi Doug,

I haven't used Win2000. If you find a ressource monitor, you could try to do
some detective work to find if a certain application is responsible for the
GDI ressource problems. Or ask in a Win2000 group whether there are known
problems and work-arounds.

Good luck,
Klaus
