is this newsgroup shutting down? if so....

I have seen numerous messages that this newsgroup is shutting down in
favor of microsoft.public.project.server.

If so...

1. When?
2. Will posts from this newsgroup be migrated to the other newsgroup?
There is quite a bit of history here (messages that I've posted) that I
query from time to time as a reference to retrieve answers that have
been given in the past.

Thanks,
Andy

Good question Andy. As I understand it, it depends on the posting rate, and
when it drops low enough, then it will be closed. There will be no
migration. I agree there's history here and that's why I've been
encouraging people to use the "correct" newsgroup for their problems, so the
history is built up there. You might be interested to know that this
newsgroup is already inaccessible to a large part of the international
community. The back history will never be lost as you should always be able
to search the internet and see the old text. There's also a lot of history
on the 3 approved newsgroups for Project where you will probably find
answers to previous problems, if there are answers.

My apologies for being a little slow on the uptake here. That's great
news about the fact that the archive will be accessible in the future,
but my confusion is raised by the "microsoft.public.project.server"
newsgroup. Is that also on this site, or does it refer to THE microsoft
site, or another site, or am I missing something altogether...

Thanks in advance,

John

Hi John,

I don't know how you access this newsgroup, but the server newsgroup is
accesssed in the same way. In Outlook Express, the account is
msnews.microsoft.com, which lists all Microsoft's public newsgroups - search
for project to see them all.
