Is Visio a good UML Modeling Tool?

Hi,

We are looking to rewrite our software application in .NET. That means that
we also will have to re-analyse and redesign the whole product. We would like
to do that with a UML Modeling Tool.
But we are not looking for a simple drawingtool that can only draw some UML
diagrams. We are looking for a tool which enables us to create a big model
that consists of a lot different diagrams, notes, etc. Different people
should be able to work at this model and it must have a good reporting tool
(Word and HTML) so we can comunicate the model to our clients.

Our question is: can Visio do that? And what version do we need?

Thanks for any help you could offer!

as an observation, the Visual Studio (premium/team-architect) products come
with the Visio Enterprise Architect edition. So the tool is already there.
The question becomes "How imperative is current UML support to your
requirements?" I believe the MS version is presently down-level, but still
usable. The report generation is in the architect edition. Of course it
brings with it the ability to forward engineer the data model component as
well for odbc compliant targets. Visio's implementation is a "single-user"
scenario, so only one user at a time can work on the model.

you might want to investigate these people as part of your research.
