Is windows mail as capable as microsoft outlook?

I just bought a new laptop and it does not have outlook loaded. When I
called the 1-800 number for Toshiba the attendant said windows mail is the
replacement for outlook. I find that hard to believe. I need it for my
laptop and am not part of a large organization. Would like to use Outlook (I
think) to interface with 2-3 e-mail names. Thanks.

Windows Mail is the replacement for Outlook Express.

Microsoft Outlook is part of Microsoft Office, and is not usually
installed by default on Windows.

Microsoft windows mail client is to replace outlook express as they do
not make it anymore and no the software has alot of iisues with web
based mail and def. no exchange support
