Issue between Office and 3rd-party security/AV software

Hi,

I have Office 2000 and Norton Internet Security 2005. I recently upgraded to
Office XP Pro (2002). However, prior to this I got a "Windows installer is
configuring Office 2000" followed by "Internet Security does not support the
Repair function" notifications on logon. This also occurs when running any
Office application. I still get this after unistalling/re-installing IS2005
and going up to Office XP (although the Win installer thing stil refers to
Office 2000!). Downloading updates has not fixed this. Any ideas, please?

Cheers,

Tom.

When you upgraded to Office XP Pro, only Word, Excel, Powerpoint,
Outlook, and Access were upgraded from 2000 to 2002. You
probably have some Office 2000 applications (such as FrontPage or
PhotoDraw) that were not upgraded because they have no equivalent
in Office XP Pro.

See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=265194 "OFF2000: Windows
Installer Appears Every Time a Program Is Started".

See
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...tiVirus&ver=2005&src=sg&pcode=nav&svy=&csm=no
"Message: 'Norton AntiVirus 2005 does not support the repair
feature. Please uninstall and reinstall.'".

Yes - there Frontpage is left behind (as I still need it). However, prior to
WinXP I didn't have this problem. I assume, then, that it is to do with XP?

No, I don't think the upgrade to Office XP necessarily caused
either of these error messages, because some people who don't
have Office XP also report getting these same error messages.
