Issue on using different version of Excel with Chinese

Chinese characters prepared in Excel spreadsheet (Excel
97) on Win 98 platform are shown as messy codes under
Excel 2000 or Excel XP of Win 2000, with Richwin.

Anyone has experience in resolving the problem?
