Issue when sending mail

I'm having a very weird and annoying issue with Outlook 2002. It's currently
set up with 2 accounts:

-1 imap account ([email protected]) set as my default account
-1 Exchange account ([email protected]) as a secondary account

Both are using completely different servers on different networks. The imap
account sits on an IMAP server, and the exchange account on an Exchange
server.

When I send mail, it will send it out as the default imap user account, and
the recipient will see it as coming from my [email protected] account, with the
mail flowing thru that network's SMTP server. But, if any of the recipients
(to: CC or BCC:) are of the domain @exchange.com, the email is automatically
sent using my exchange account (and going through the exchange server). The
"Accounts" dropdown when composing mail still shows my default @imap.com
account when this happens. No matter what I do, it still sends the mail
through the Exchange server, and showing as coming from my @exchange.com
account!

I do not want this to happen! I want to only send through the exchange
server when I select my exchange account from the Accounts dropdown. This is
extremely irritating, to the point where I've had to set up a 2nd email
client just to send mail! Is there a way to fix this within Outlook? I've
searched high and low through the settings, and nothing appears to fit.
