Issue with contacts not showing up online

C

cgillen

Hi, I'm trying to test out Groove.

I've created 2 accounts and though both are listed in each other's contacts
list they never show up as online to each other...

additionally, They are synchronizing, nor can I send e-mail back and forth.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

In order to troubleshoot the isse check the following points:

- Connected to Internet? (Note: Groove uses Internet Explorer's settings)
- Off-line mode? (launchbar menu: options / work off-line)
- Firewall settings
- Antivirus software (NOD32 requires you to make an exception for
Groove.exe)
- Proxy settings, if applicable. (configured in Internet Explorer)

Can you send a Groove instant message? (status: sent, waiting for delivery)
If so, your PC is working fine. Check the other person's PC.

You cannot send a message? (status: waiting to send)
If so, check above points on your PC.

Hope this helps,

Jan

When you log into Groove you choose an Account - The default is the last one
you use - do therfore both cannot appear on-line at the same time; unless you
have to computers running at the same time where you have logged in with one
of your 2 accounts on each machine.

Hi,
Recently I started using Groove 2007. Navigating the program is very easy
and I successfully added some contacts.
But today I invited a contact and couldn't successfully establish a
connection: I get the message "Inviting 'NAME': Waiting to send..."
I trief restarting the computer, the program, closing other applications
using the internet, but the invite just can not be sent.

Anything I could do to solve this problem??
Thank you,
Andre

Maybe did you switch inadvertently to "Work Offline" status (?)
Check if you have a "red cross" on the Groove icon in you taskbar.
(If yes, right click on the Groove icon and choose "Work online")

If you are sure you are working online, check the Groove identity you are
trying to reach is still a valid Groove identity....Do you see this contact
as online or active in your contact list ?

Hi, thank you for your response,
First of all I am working online.
Second, the contact is not appearing as online in my contact list, but is in
his own contact list. It might be usefull to add that the contact can't see
me in his list nor the workspace he's supposed to use.
Finally a new question: Is it necessary for the particular contact to be
active and online to be able to send him the invite?
Thank you

It is not a requirement to have a contact as active or online to invite him.
You can send an invitation to a contact when he's inactive. He will receive
your invitation the next time he will log in..

In fact, checking that point was just an idea to be sure you are trying to
invite a right contact...
Maybe could you ask your contact to send you his Groove VCard again (by
email for example) to be sure you are trying to invite the right Groove
identity (you maybe have a former or not-valid groove contact...)

Yeah, thanks I understand what you mean.
In fact, when I send out the invite, I see the message "Inviting NAME:

I thought the invite is supposed to be sent to a relay service?? And when
the contact comes online the invite will be sent to him and show up.

Yes you are right... It is how it works when you try to reach a valid user.

Do you encounter the same behavior with other Groove users or is it just for
this specific one ?

Do you know if this user is able to contact other Groove users ?
(send a invitation, send a instant message, send other users online)

He maybe encountered an issue during installation or did not configure
correctly his firewall....
